Frequently Asked Questions
I selected Technische Universität Chemnitz (TU) and chose Informatics. It showed me the semesters, and since I'm starting from the 1st semester, I selected '1'. However, the screen froze, and when I checked my cart, it was added. Just in case, I tried to remove it from the cart and add it again, but now I can't add it back and I'm getting an error. Has anyone else experienced this issue? ▼
These kinds of technical issues can occur within the Uni-Assist system, especially during peak application periods. First, you might try clearing your browser's cache and attempting it with a different browser. If the problem persists, the most accurate and quickest solution is to contact Uni-Assist's technical support team directly. They usually offer support via email or phone. This isn't specific to Universität Augsburg but is a general issue that can affect all universities using Uni-Assist.
Are there any B1 exam centers in or around Ulm and Augsburg? Has anyone here taken an exam there? ▼
Yes, Augsburg and its surroundings are well-developed regions in Germany for language learning and exam centers. In Augsburg, the Goethe-Institut or other accredited language schools (e.g., Volkshochschule Augsburg) typically offer German B1 level exams. You can also find similar centers in Ulm. To find out exam dates and application procedures, it's best to visit the official websites of these institutions or contact them directly.
What level of German language proficiency is required to apply to Universität Augsburg? ▼
For most bachelor's programs at Universität Augsburg, a C1 level of German proficiency is generally expected (documented by exams like TestDaF, DSH, or Goethe-Zertifikat C1). Some master's programs may be English-taught programs, in which case English proficiency certificates like IELTS or TOEFL might be required. For precise information, it's crucial to check the admission requirements for your desired program on the university's official website (uni-augsburg.de).
Are there **tuition fees** at Universität Augsburg? ▼
At public universities in Germany, including those in the state of Bavaria, tuition fees are generally not charged for international students. You only pay a 'Semesterbeitrag' (semester contribution) at the beginning of each semester. This fee covers services from the student union (AStA), administrative costs, and often includes a Semesterticket (public transport pass). You can find the current semester contribution amount for Universität Augsburg on the university's official website.
Is it difficult to find accommodation in Augsburg? ▼
As in many university cities in Germany, finding student accommodation in Augsburg can take some time, especially at the beginning of the semester. Student dormitories (Studentenwerk Augsburg – the student services organization) are usually the most affordable options, but their capacities are limited. Private apartments or shared student flats (WG - Wohngemeinschaft) are also popular. It's important to start your accommodation search as early as possible and use various platforms (university notice boards, real estate websites, Facebook groups).
