About the Program

The Master's degree programme in Materials Science and Engineering offers students a high-level scientific education with a research-based focus. The course deals with the synthesis, characterisation, processing and recycling of structural and functional materials. These include, for example, materials for energy generation, biomaterials, thermoelectrics, semiconductors, high-temperature materials and hybrid materials. During the standard period of study of four semesters, Master's students acquire in-depth knowledge in the core areas of materials science, materials physics and materials engineering. Particular attention is paid to the sustainability of materials and computer-aided materials science in order to meet the future-oriented needs of materials research. The programme concludes with the completion of an individual Master's thesis on a research topic of the student's choice. All lectures and seminars on the Master's degree programme in Materials Science and Engineering are held in English.
