Frequently Asked Questions
Is it difficult to find a language course and accommodation at RWTH Aachen? ▼
Finding a language course and accommodation in Aachen can be challenging, especially at the start of semesters. For language courses, you have options like private institutions such as Sprachakademie Aachen or courses offered by the university itself. For accommodation, student dormitories (Studentenwerk) or shared flats (WG - Wohngemeinschaft) are the most popular choices. Applying and researching as early as possible will significantly increase your chances of finding a place.
Can I apply to RWTH Aachen with conditional admission (bedingte Zulassung)? ▼
Yes, RWTH Aachen can offer conditional admission in some cases. Especially if you have a language proficiency gap, you might receive conditional admission if you have a certain level of German knowledge, allowing you to come to Germany and continue your language course here. However, this can vary from program to program and application period. For the most current and definitive information, it's important to contact the university's international office.
Even if I have a bachelor's degree from Turkey, do I need to attend a Studienkolleg to study industrial engineering in Aachen? ▼
Even if you have a bachelor's degree from Turkey, if you want to pursue a bachelor's degree in a completely different field in Germany (for example, switching from economics to engineering), you might generally need to attend a Studienkolleg (preparatory college). This is especially true if your high school diploma doesn't directly equate to a German Abitur or if you're missing specific subjects for your target program. However, the situation is different for master's programs. For the most accurate information, you should check RWTH Aachen's international student application requirements and the specific prerequisites for your desired program.
Does RWTH Aachen accept a C1 language certificate? ▼
Yes, RWTH Aachen University generally accepts a C1 level German language proficiency certificate (such as TestDaF, DSH, Goethe-Zertifikat C2, etc.) for programs taught in German. However, the specific accepted exams and minimum scores can vary from program to program. You should always check the language requirements for the program you plan to apply for on the university's official website.
Are bachelor's programs at RWTH Aachen only for the winter semester? ▼
For many bachelor's programs at RWTH Aachen, applications are generally open for the winter semester (Wintersemester). Bachelor's program options for the summer semester (Sommersemester) might be more limited or non-existent. While our AlmanyaUni database currently shows 0 bachelor's programs directly open for international applications, we recommend checking the university's own website for the most up-to-date bachelor's programs and application deadlines. For master's programs, however, there are programs available for both winter and summer semesters.
How long does it take to get an appointment and process an Germany student visa? ▼
Appointments for a Germany student visa can take several weeks or even months, especially during peak periods (like summer). The processing time for a visa application typically ranges from 4 to 8 weeks, but it can take longer depending on demand or if additional documents are requested. Therefore, it's crucial that you apply for your visa as soon as possible after receiving your admission and consider these timelines when scheduling your appointment.
