About the Program

Academic Content This Summer School programme covers the fundamentals used in automation and simulation. The topic of simulation features various exercises in a computer lab. As a student, you will solve real-world problems by applying software commonly used in industry and thus acquire a better understanding of methods used in mechanical engineering. Since you will be working in labs, you will gain an insight into the research approaches of the institute. The topic of automation will provide you with an overview of modern automated production systems and computer-integrated manufacturing with an introduction to the smart infrastructures that are leading to the transformation to Industry 4.0. This course covers all the major cutting-edge technologies of production automation and the ways in which these technologies are used to construct modern manufacturing systems. Application examples are integrated throughout the lectures in order to give participants practical insight. For further information about this programme, click here. In the following weeks, there will be a lot of social events to support the instruction and the course-related activities. At these events, you can get to know the other participants, our beautiful city of Aachen, and the places in the surrounding area. Then during the last days of your stay, you will take a final exam to earn your certificate. At the weekends and after the farewell event, you can take advantage of the short travel distances and discover more of Germany and Europe on your own or with your new friends!
