About the Program

The interdisciplinary degree programme in Battery Science and Technology in Engineering equips students with the essential knowledge and skills to explore potential applications, engage in research, and contribute to the advancement of battery technology. Graduates of this programme are qualified for diverse career opportunities in companies involved in battery production (e.g. battery cell or battery pack manufacturers), the application of batteries across various domains (e.g. vehicle, ship, or railway manufacturers), or the management and operation of battery storage systems (e.g. grid operators, energy suppliers, or energy traders). Furthermore, the programme provides a pathway for pursuing a doctorate in fields such as electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or materials science. By integrating disciplines such as electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, physics, materials science, computer science, and mathematics, the programme equips students with both the technical knowledge and practical skills necessary for success in the field of battery technology.  Moreover, the programme develops expertise in battery electronics and diagnostics, data monitoring and evaluation, and quality assurance. Effective battery design and utilisation strategies are rooted in a thorough understanding of the requirements and constraints of various application fields. Students are also deeply involved in current research through the "Research Labs", 14-week practical courses with one-to-one supervision in various institutes and institutions involved in the degree programme.
