Many famous figures, including Leibniz, Goethe, Nietzsche, and Angela Merkel, studied or taught here, shaping science and thought for centuries.

Today, Universität Leipzig operates as a full-fledged university with a broad academic spectrum. It offers high-quality education and research opportunities across many disciplines, from humanities to natural sciences, medical sciences to social sciences. With modern research centers, international collaborations, and innovative educational approaches, it aims to train future scientists and professionals. Frequently Asked Questions

Are there technical issues with university application systems in Germany? ▼

Yes, technical glitches can sometimes occur on uni-assist or universities' own application portals. If you encounter an error or a frozen screen, first try refreshing your browser, using a different browser, or trying again after a few hours. If the problem persists, it's best to contact the technical support unit of the relevant university (in this case, Universität Leipzig) or the application platform (if applicable). Taking a screenshot and explaining the issue in detail will speed up the process.

Are there recommendations for language or preparatory courses in Leipzig? ▼

Leipzig offers many options for language and preparatory courses for students. Universität Leipzig might have its own language courses (you should check their official website). Additionally, Volkshochschule Leipzig (Adult Education Center) provides affordable and high-quality German courses. Internationally recognized institutions like the Goethe-Institut or private language schools (e.g., TANDEM Leipzig, Inlingua) are also popular choices. When selecting a course, it's recommended to consider factors like price, class hours, levels, and location.

What are the application process and requirements for Universität Leipzig? ▼

Universität Leipzig is not a member of uni-assist, so applications are made directly to the university. The application process and requirements can vary depending on your chosen program (bachelor's, master's) and your nationality. Generally, documents such as your high school diploma (or equivalence certificate), German language proficiency (like TestDaF, DSH), transcripts, and a motivation letter are required. How difficult is it to find student accommodation in Leipzig? ▼

While Leipzig offers more affordable accommodation options compared to other major German cities, demand can be high, especially at the start of a semester. Student dormitories (Studentenwerk Leipzig) are usually the most affordable and popular option, but they might have application periods and waiting lists.
