Frequently Asked Questions
Can I **study medicine** at Heinrich-Heine-Universität Düsseldorf? What about the recognition process for my degree? ▼
Yes, Heinrich-Heine-Universität Düsseldorf has an established Faculty of Medicine. To study medicine in Germany, you typically need a very high GPA (Numerus Clausus) and advanced German language proficiency (C1 level). For your Anesthesia Technician diploma from Turkey to be recognized in Germany, you must apply for recognition. This process can be handled by state recognition authorities or sometimes directly by the university. HHU is not a member of uni-assist (a central application service for international students), so you will need to apply directly to the university. Your recognition outcome and GPA will determine your chances of admission to the Faculty of Medicine.
Has anyone sent their documents to Düsseldorf for Hochschulreife recognition? How does the process work? ▼
You need to send your documents directly to Heinrich-Heine-Universität Düsseldorf for Hochschulreife (university entrance qualification) because the university is not a uni-assist member. The recognition process evaluates the equivalence of your documents to the German education system. This typically involves reviewing your high school diploma, transcripts, and any university education documents you may have. The process can take time, so it's important to apply early. In some cases, additional exams (e.g., Studienkolleg – a preparatory college for international students) or language proficiency might be required. The university's International Office will provide you with detailed information on this.
Does anyone have information about the Go Academy language course in Düsseldorf? Do they arrange accommodation? ▼
Go Academy Düsseldorf is one of the popular language courses in the city and typically provides support with accommodation (e.g., homestays or student apartments). However, for details and the current status of such services, it's best to contact Go Academy directly. Finding a representative who speaks Turkish might be difficult, so it's recommended to try communicating in English or German via email or phone. You can also connect with other students who have experience with Go Academy in our forums or Telegram group to get information.
I'm looking for a WG (shared apartment) in Düsseldorf, is anyone else looking for a WG? ▼
Finding a WG (Wohngemeinschaft – shared apartment) in large cities like Düsseldorf is a very common accommodation solution among students. Besides reducing rent costs, it's also a great way to meet new people. For your WG search, you can use online platforms like WG-Gesucht.de, Facebook groups (such as 'WG Düsseldorf', 'Düsseldorf Zimmer frei'), and the university's notice boards (Schwarzes Brett). You can also connect with other students in our AlmanyaUni Telegram groups to find shared WG searches or vacant room listings.
It's been two months since I completed my online application, and they haven't even asked for biometrics or a photo. Is this normal? ▼
Bureaucratic processes in Germany, especially university applications and visa procedures, can be time-consuming. A two-month period can be considered normal in some cases, as processing times can extend during peak seasons. However, to alleviate your concerns, it's best to directly contact the institution where you submitted your application (the university, Ausländerbehörde – foreigners' authority, or consulate/embassy). It's recommended to follow up via email or phone to inquire about your application status and to check if any documents are missing. Biometric photos and fingerprints are typically requested during the visa application stage or when you visit the Ausländerbehörde for your residence permit (Aufenthaltserlaubnis).
To get more information about Heinrich-Heine-Universität Düsseldorf, ask questions about application processes, or student life, you can visit our AlmanyaUni forums or join our Telegram groups. Shape your future in Germany!
