The three-year bachelor's programme in Modern Japanese Studies (minor subject) provides students with basic knowledge of the Japanese language and gives a comprehensive introduction into culture, history and society (with a focus on Japanese modernity) as well as the methods and tools of Japanese Studies. The programme includes basic knowledge of the Japanese language, history, culture and society with a focus on Modern Japan. In the first year, the curriculum focuses on Japanese language classes. In the second year, students acquire basic knowledge in the areas of history, culture and society. In the third year, students deepen their studies in cultural and social science research on Japan.
