About the Program

The BA minor 'Communication and Media Studies' is a social-scientific study programme, dealing with media and public communication. As a minor, the programme can only be studied in combination with a major. The programme focuses on the social preconditions, consequences, and the meaning of mass media and public communication. Students will become familiarised with media systems, journalism, public relations, political communication, media entertainment, media exposure as well as media effects. The programme also provides training in advanced social science research methodology and fosters cooperation skills through project-oriented study. It prepares for occupational fields such as advertisement, public relations, media studies, market research, public opinion research, strategic communication and communication consulting as well as journalism.
