About Hochschule für Musik „Hanns Eisler“ Berlin

The Hochschule für Musik „Hanns Eisler“ Berlin was founded in 1950 in East Berlin, then known as the Deutsche Hochschule für Musik. It began its operations with the aim of establishing a distinct identity from the former music academy in West Berlin. In the 1960s, it adopted its current name in memory of Hanns Eisler, a renowned composer and music theorist who was one of its first professors.

Since 1987, the university has been teaching in its main building on Charlottenstraße in Berlin's Mitte district, opposite the Konzerthaus Berlin and Gendarmenmarkt. In 2005, the Neuer Marstall building on Schlossplatz was also opened as an additional campus. This central location offers students easy access to Berlin's rich cultural life and music scene.

Considered one of Europe's leading music academies, Hanns Eisler provides world-class education to young talents, preparing them for the international music stage. Given the strong interest in Berlin universities among Turkish students, Hanns Eisler is an attractive option for those aiming for an artistic career.

Frequently Asked Questions

My visa is out, and I'm in Germany. I'll do a Master's, but first, I'll attend a language course. My language course is in Heidelberg, but I want to do a language course in Berlin. Will the foreigners' office (Ausländerbehörde) cause a problem with this?

Changing your language course location could pose a problem for the foreigners' office (Ausländerbehörde). Your visa might be tied to a specific purpose and location. Before making such a change, it's crucial to contact the relevant Ausländerbehörde in Heidelberg or Berlin to explain the situation and get their approval. Otherwise, you might face issues during your residence permit process.

Are there preparation courses for the Telc C1 Hochschule exam in Berlin?

Yes, there are many preparation courses for the Telc C1 Hochschule exam in Berlin. Institutions like the Goethe-Institut, Volkshochschule (public adult education centers), and various private language schools offer these types of courses. You can research to find the one that best suits you.

I'm going to Berlin in November for a year of preparation and am constantly looking for a house or dorm. If anyone has information or can help, please write.

Finding accommodation in Berlin is quite challenging and competitive. Forum topics like 'Looking for a WG/dorm in Berlin' reflect this situation. It's important to start your search as early as possible. You can consider options like student dorms (Studierendenwerk Berlin, the student services organization), WG (Wohngemeinschaft – shared apartment) listings on sites like wg-gesucht.de and immoscout24.de, and private dorms (e.g., Studentendorf Adlershof). Student groups on social media and platforms like AlmanyaUni can also be helpful.

I'm staying in Berlin, and my language course is also in Berlin, but if I do my Anmeldung (residence registration) from Brandenburg, will there be a problem later?

The place where you do your Anmeldung (residence registration) is your official place of residence and should generally be where you actually live. Registering your Anmeldung from Brandenburg while living in Berlin could legally cause problems. This situation can lead to inconsistencies in many official processes like taxes, health insurance, and residence permits, and could be seen as an issue by the foreigners' office. It's always recommended to do your Anmeldung where you actually reside.

Can anyone recommend an affordable language school for Berlin?

For students looking for affordable language courses in Berlin, the Volkshochschule (VHS – public adult education centers) is a good option. They are generally more economical than other private language schools. Additionally, some private language schools might offer discounts or more affordable programs periodically. It would be beneficial to do detailed research to compare the quality and prices of courses.

Berlin universities apparently don't accept conditional enrollment, meaning you sort out the language first and then continue. Are there any universities in Berlin that offer conditional enrollment for software engineering?

Some large public universities in Berlin (e.g., FU Berlin, TU Berlin) can often be strict about conditional admission (bedingte Zulassung) and require full German language proficiency at the time of application. However, this can vary from university to university and from program to program. Admission requirements for art universities like Hochschule für Musik „Hanns Eisler“ might differ, as they focus on aptitude tests in addition to language proficiency. Generally, finding universities in Berlin that offer conditional admission can be challenging. For the most accurate information, you should carefully check the admission requirements on the official website of the university and program you are interested in, or contact the student administration directly.
