About the Program

The BA Economics (Volkswirtschaftslehre) program is designed for students who want to combine economic education with study programs from the Faculty of Philosophy. It offers a professional qualification after six semesters. The program is divided into a basic phase (1st to 3rd semester) and a profiling phase (4th to 6th semester). In the basic phase, compulsory modules provide a basic economic program in economics as well as mathematical and statistical foundations. In the profiling phase, students can differentiate their focus through elective modules. The Bachelor's program in Economics prepares students for professional activities in non-profit organizations, government institutions and public administration, media or politics. It enables students to understand the functional principles of markets and to apply economic instruments and theories to problems in order to make adequate decisions in the interface areas of economic and social issues.
