About the Program

The binational double-degree program 'Teaching qualification, German-Polish' covers the subjects German and Polish for gymnasiums in Germany, as well as for primary schools (grades 4-8) and secondary schools in Poland. The program alternates between the University of Greifswald (UG) and the University of Szczecin (US). Students receive two degrees: the First State Examination for teaching at gymnasiums in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern on the German side, and the licencjat and magister on the Polish side. With these qualifications, graduates can work as teachers on both sides of the border. The program builds on three subjects: Educational Sciences, Polish Studies (mainly at US), and German Studies (mainly at UG). Students acquire pedagogical, psychological, subject-specific, didactic, and language skills. Language acquisition is intensively supported through language courses and online tandem learning. Mandatory school internships are conducted at both German and Polish schools.
