About the Program

The subject of Slavic Studies deals with Slavic languages and Slavic-language literatures and cultures. The Greifswald Slavic Studies program offers a versatile and well-founded education in Polish, Russian, Czech and Ukrainian. Students focus on Polish, Czech, Ukrainian or Russian language, literature and culture in European contexts. They discuss theoretical positions and methodological approaches and learn to apply them. Language training in the language of choice forms an important part of the program. Students also acquire knowledge in another Slavic language of their choice. A longer stay in the countries of the studied languages is recommended. The program can be combined with other subjects from the Faculty of Philosophy or other faculties.
