About the Program

The Master's program in Regional Development focuses on analyzing dynamic changes in economy and society from a spatial perspective. Students acquire expertise and methodological competence to address complex economic and socio-cultural issues - from global transformation processes and regional disparities to spatial justice and society-environment dynamics, including applications in tourism. The program combines human-geographical depth with interdisciplinary diversity. Through elective modules, case studies, and the master's thesis, students define their personal profile tailored to their interests and career goals. The program consists of four components: 1) Core competencies in human geography with advanced qualitative and quantitative methods of empirical spatial research, 2) Practice-oriented application through field studies and case studies, 3) Individual profile development through elective modules in regional development, tourism, sustainability geography, GIS, economics, law, political science, and more, 4) Independence and supervision with research and practice-oriented learning in small groups.
