About the Program

The Master's program Empirical Political and Social Research offers graduates of Bachelor's programs in the social sciences, political science, and sociology the opportunity to deepen and broaden the knowledge they acquired in their first degree program, and to specialize in selected areas of the social sciences. The focus of the program is on theory-driven and problem-oriented empirical research on relevant political science and sociological issues. Students have the opportunity to specialize in their chosen field, by completing a variety of modules in the areas of Political systems and political sociology, Political theory and empirical research on democracy, International relations and European integration, Sociology focusing on social science research methods, Sociology of technology and the environment, Sociology of organization and innovation, and Computational Social Science. Two modules from the areas of Sociology focusing on social science research methods and/or Computational Social Science are compulsory. The course also offers a practical module in the form of an internship.
