About the Program

Poland is our closest neighbor and the importance of Polish in and for our region, but also for Europe as a whole, is constantly increasing. As part of the primary school teaching degree program at the University of Greifswald, Polish can be chosen as a 3rd or 4th subject from the third semester onwards. The aim of the Polish partial degree program is to provide academic and practical preparation for teaching at primary schools. The focus of the study is on acquiring Polish language skills and primary school-specific didactic content. Language courses extend over five semesters, enabling students to express themselves proficiently in Polish on all thematic areas. Within the didactic components, students acquire the ability to plan and conduct lessons appropriate for pupils. Primary school teaching is characterized by a more playful approach to teaching Polish. Students also gain practical experience in teaching Polish at primary schools and acquire basic knowledge in linguistics and literary studies.
