Physics (Master of Science )Physics

Master of Science (M.Sc.)

About the Program

Physics tries to measure quantifiable natural phenomena by means of specific experiments and to describe them theoretically by means of the simplest possible fundamental models. The Master's degree program is divided into a one-year study phase and a one-year research phase. The study phase is dedicated to special and in-depth courses, including lectures, exercises, advanced practical course, and seminars. The research phase begins with a research internship in a research group, preparing students for the master's thesis. Possible specializations are solid state physics, particle physics and medical physics. The Master's degree program is equivalent to the traditional diploma degree in terms of content, level and study time. The program consists of four semesters and requires completion of 120 ECTS credit points. The main areas of focus and possible specializations are in the fields of Atomic and Molecular Physics, Condensed matter physics (solids and other things you can touch), and Elementary particle physics (at accelerators and with particles from the universe).
