Philosophy and Economics

Master of Arts (M.A.)

About the Program

Our Master's degree program in Philosophy & Economics provides analytical skills in dealing with a wide range of economic and social issues. Students learn to assess the scope of responsibility of social decision-makers and to take on management tasks in the fields of politics and economics. The program is divided into three phases: (1) development and enhancement of fundamental insights and methods in philosophy and economics, (2) deepening and consolidation of knowledge, and (3) practical application of the acquired expertise. In the first year, students develop skills in philosophy (communication skills, conceptual thinking, normative perspective) and economics (micro- and macroeconomic theory, econometrics, economic policy advice). The second year focuses on interdisciplinary perspectives combining philosophical and economic approaches to examine complex social processes.
