About the Program

The Master's program 'Language and Communication' creates an interdisciplinary connection between linguistics and communication science. This innovative approach captures language use as a communicative act in its various facets, possibilities, and effects. The program provides a broad spectrum of skills and competencies including: handling interdisciplinary methods such as content analysis, conversation analysis, meaning analysis, and discourse analysis; observation, control, and organization of communicative processes in social interaction; reflection on language and media in the context of public communication; application of language evaluation criteria; and assessment of language and communication regarding understanding and comprehensibility. Graduates are able to competently analyze and describe language and communication in their different manifestations in institutions and in public, to critically reflect on them, and to organize them in a targeted manner.
