Language and Communication

Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)

About the Program

The Bachelor's degree course in Language and Communication provides a solid foundation in linguistics with the opportunity to choose one or two language specializations (German, English, French, Spanish). The course is interdisciplinary: German, English/American and Romance studies work closely together. When studying language and individual languages, students concentrate not only on their forms and structure, but also look at cross-linguistic communicative practices and knowledge structures. The functions of language as a medium at the intersection of the individual, interaction, society and culture are also considered. The program qualifies graduates for a wide range of jobs in communication-oriented professional fields, such as internal and external communication in companies or institutions, in media and politics, in text and media design, in communication consulting or in foreign language teaching for adults.
