About the Program

Acquisition of historical knowledge in the sub-disciplines of antiquity, the Middle Ages, modern times and regional history as well as on subject-related scientific work. Students acquire tools necessary for scientific work and systematic orientation, knowledge from various practical areas and interdisciplinary cultural studies competence. The program focuses on in-depth historical factual and methodological knowledge with inclusion of current research controversies, ability to analyze and interpret sources and representations as well as to place special questions in the overall historical context. Students acquire sound knowledge of political history, constitutional, economic and social history, the history of ideas and culture in antiquity, the Middle Ages and modern times as well as the ability to work independently according to scientific principles.
