Geology

Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.)

About the Program

The Geosciences deal with the properties of the Earth. They ask how the Earth is structured, what it consists of, and what processes take place on and in it. Geoscientists consider different time and spatial scales. The exploration of the geological past is essential to understand current processes and predict future developments. Geosciences are therefore of central importance both to understand long-lasting processes (such as the formation of mountains and oceans) and to address the major challenges of human communities through geo-risks, climate changes, and resource scarcity. The Bachelor's program in Geosciences in Greifswald offers an interdisciplinary scientific study and introduces the subjects of geology, mineralogy, hydrogeology, paleontology, geochemistry, and geophysics. The study includes application-oriented field exercises and laboratory internships and prepares for a professional career, e.g., in industry, research, and development.
