About the Program

The Institute of English and American Studies offers a comprehensive, intensive education in the fields of language practice, linguistics and literary studies of the Anglophone cultural area, and in the field of English didactics. The program aims for a balance of theory and practice paired with application orientation. The program initially focuses on overview knowledge in English linguistics, English and North American literary studies, and cultural studies of Great Britain, North America, and Canada. Later, students can delve deeper into individual aspects and specialize. In the field of didactics, students begin teaching their first lessons at schools from around the 4th semester, with guidance and reflection. In addition to the two teaching subjects, students must complete courses in educational sciences and three internships, as well as acquire another foreign language (at A2 level). A minimum three-month stay in an English-speaking country is required by the end of the studies.
