About the Program

The additional qualification 'Digital Competence in the Humanities' is a joint project of the Neuphilological Institute, German Studies, and Digital Humanities in collaboration with the Center for Philology and Digitality 'Kallimachos' (ZPD). It can be acquired by all students of the Faculty of Philosophy (i.e., Bachelor's, teaching, Master's, and doctoral students). The program aims to provide humanities students with the opportunity to acquire competencies in handling digital data beyond their studies. Students gain both self-confidence in dealing with digital methods and data as well as the ability to critically reflect on the benefits and applications of digitalization. The qualification requires completing three modules: Module 1 (Overview of Digital Humanities), Module 2 (Seminar with digital focus from another department), and Module 3 (Practical experience through workshops, programming courses, or internships).
