About the Program

The four-semester M.A. in Cultural Analysis and Cultural Intermediation is characterized by the interdisciplinary interlinking of Cultural Anthropology of Textiles, Art History, Musicology and the corresponding communication sciences. The aim is to view culture as a holistic constellation and understand its complexity. The program focuses on both cultural heritage and creative manifestations of the 'high arts' (fashion design, architecture, visual art, serious music) and materializations of everyday spheres of life (popular culture). Students study together in the interdisciplinary part and complete courses in Cultural Anthropology of Fashion and Cultural Anthropology of Textiles, choosing between Art History/Visual Studies or Musicology. The program prepares graduates for positions in museums, archives, exhibitions, journalism, educational work, and research.
