About the Program

The Master of Science program in Clinical Psychology and Psychotherapy at Heinrich Heine University complies with the requirements of the Licensing Regulations for Psychotherapists (PsychThApprO, 2020). After successful completion, graduates fulfill the requirements for admission to the psychotherapeutic examination at the State Examination Office to obtain psychotherapeutic licensure. This four-semester program of the Medical Faculty can only be started in the winter semester. The program includes research methodology in psychology and psychotherapy, advanced psychological foundations, special disorder and procedure teaching in psychology and psychotherapy, applied psychotherapy, diagnostics and assessment in psychology and psychotherapy, and documentation and quality assurance in psychology and psychotherapy. The program has a special focus on treating complex psychosomatic, psychiatric, and neuropsychological patients due to its location at the Medical Faculty.
