Chemistry

Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.)

About the Program

The aim of the bachelor's program is to provide a broad basic scientific education in the core subjects of chemistry (inorganic, organic, physical and analytical chemistry, biochemistry, theoretical chemistry) including the necessary fundamentals in mathematics and physics. This results in a fixed study program consisting of 13 compulsory modules. In addition, there is a detailed elective area with a relatively small scope. In addition to the lectures, the focus of the chemistry program is on intensively supervised laboratory lab courses at the university, in which the theoretically acquired knowledge is immediately applied. The contents of the bachelor's program are deepened and interlinked in the 6th semester within a lecture series. Cross-references between the contents or competences taught there are particularly emphasized. The coherence of the subject chemistry is demonstrated by selected examples. An outlook on current issues of basic research and application-oriented research is given.
