About the Program

The bachelor's program in biology offers a profound and broad basic education in all branches of modern biology. During the first 4 semesters, students acquire basic knowledge in inorganic chemistry, mathematics, physical chemistry and physics plus general knowledge in organic chemistry. At the same time, students obtain deepened knowledge in different fields of biology, like botany, zoology, biochemistry, genetics and microbiology. During the last two semesters, students gain a solid foundation in at least two areas of: botany, zoology, genetics, microbiology, molecular biology, molecular ecology and evolutionary biology, neurobiology, biology of development, or further fields. Special emphasis is given to practical work, covering nearly 50% of the student's workload. The course of study leads to a first degree which qualifies students not only for further studies in a master education or a graduate school, but also for the professional world.
