Allgemeine und Angewandte SprachwissenschaftGeneral and Applied Linguistics

Master of Arts (M.A.)

About the Program

At the University of Würzburg, linguistics is represented across numerous philology departments. The goal of the Master's program is to combine these competencies and offer a course of study in which students can both deepen their linguistic research interests in individual languages and compare linguistic structures across languages. The program is aimed at students of modern and classical philology who see their main interest in linguistics and want to further deepen this after their Bachelor's degree. The program combines aspects of general linguistics, i.e., the observation and structural-functional description of phenomena in different languages, with applied linguistics, which deals with linguistic variability in concrete usage situations.
