What's the difference between Studienkolleg M-Kurs and T-Kurs?
The T-Kurs prepares you for technical subjects, mathematics and the sciences; the M-Kurs prepares you for medicine and biology. Your intended degree programme decides which one you need.
Course types at university Studienkollegs
- T-Kurs: technical subjects, maths, sciences
- M-Kurs: medicine and biology
- Others: W (economics/social sciences), G (humanities, German studies, arts), S (languages)
- Studienkollegs at Fachhochschulen use different courses: TI, WW, GD, SW, DÜ
What both courses share
- Under the KMK framework, each is designed for two semesters.
- Both end with the Feststellungsprüfung (FSP): German plus two subjects of the course. The exam subjects depend on the course type, and the Studienkolleg sets the details.
- You need German proof before admission, and there is no entitlement to a place.
Choosing the right one
- Pick the course that matches your target field. The Studienkolleg and the university decide which degree programmes fit which course, so don't rely on claims that the M-Kurs "keeps every direction open".
- A TestAS score does not exempt you from Studienkolleg and does not replace the course.
