About the Program

Technomathematics is a Bachelor's program that prepares students to solve large and small future tasks in interdisciplinary teams with engineers, technicians, and computer scientists. The program focuses on applying mathematics to technical problems such as simulation of crash tests in the automotive industry, optimization of hulls for racing yachts or aircraft, calculation of traffic flows, efficient transport of goods by logistics companies, planning of mobile phone or energy networks, computer-aided search for new drugs, design of highly integrated computer chips, and calculation of acoustics in concert halls. Students take modules in mathematics and computer science as well as in one of four possible areas of specialization: Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Environmental Engineering. The program at the University of Kassel is unique as it's the only one that offers combination options with environmental engineering, enabling a strong environmental focus.
