About the Program

With this degree program, students are trained to become qualified specialists in the field of circular economy technologies. The course lasts three semesters and leads to a Master of Engineering (M.Eng.). Based on the goals of Emden-Leer University of Applied Sciences as a "university of the future", students acquire specialist knowledge of circular economy technologies. They learn to think and act in a resource-conserving way and to work in an interdisciplinary manner. Due to its international orientation, this master's course is taught entirely in English. The program includes two compulsory modules: 'Introduction to Circular Economy' and 'Circular Economy Project', followed by a Master Thesis in the third semester. Students can choose from various elective modules including Biodegradability and Environmental Impact, Biopolymers, Energies and materials in biotechnology, Modelling and Simulation, Recovery of Recyclable Materials, Soil remediation, Solid Waste and Recycling, and Water Reuse. Graduates will be able to develop sustainable processes as the basis of the circular economy, apply and optimize these processes, work interdisciplinary in the value chain, and analyze, evaluate and optimize processes of environmental protection and waste avoidance under the aspects of the circular economy.
