Stem Cell Biology

Master of Science (M.Sc.)

About the Program

Stem cells have a major impact on nearly all disciplines of life sciences dealing with eukaryotic cells or organisms. This highly interdisciplinary master degree course is oriented to cutting-edge research and current markets. The course combines traditional basic disciplines such as cell biology, histology, biochemistry and pathology with recent progress in epigenetics, bioinformatics and developmental biology to secure a broad understanding towards innovative translational approaches in medicine. The program is structured over four semesters (120 credit points total): First semester (30 CP) includes Stem Cell Physiology, Stem Cell Lecture Series I, Bioinformatics, and Stem Cell Practical Courses. Second semester (30 CP) covers Stem Cell Biochemistry, Stem Cell Lecture Series II, Molecular Tracing Methods, Genetic Engineering, Tissue Engineering, and Lab Rotation. Third semester (30 CP) includes Advances in Stem Cell Research, Pathology of Degenerative Diseases, Scientific Responsibility in Biomedicine, and Lab Bench Project and Grant Writing. The fourth semester (30 CP) is dedicated to the Master Project. A double degree option is also available.
