Standards of Decision-Making Across Cultures

Master of Arts (M.A.)

About the Program

Standards of Decision-Making Across Cultures (SDAC) is an interdisciplinary degree program that allows students to acquire in-depth academic and methodological skills and additional key skills on decision-making processes in East and South Asia. Students can choose their specialization from the courses offered at FAU Erlangen-Nürnberg and organize their own semester abroad. The program focuses on decision-making processes in entrepreneurial, political and cultural situations, developing a cross-cultural perspective. Students gain knowledge from areas of Chinese studies, history, philosophy, religious studies, economics, social and cultural anthropology and the history of science. SDAC is a full time, four semester M.A. program supported by the Elite Network of Bavaria. This non-consecutive Master's program draws from the fields of social and cultural anthropologies, political science, history, gender studies, economics, sociology, philosophy, and area studies. In SDAC, anthropology is the guiding discipline with ethnography and qualitative research as the main methods, however, all courses are taught in a spirit of multi perspectivity. Please note: This degree program will be discontinued with effect from the winter semester 2026/27; students will be admitted or enrolled for the last time at the start of the winter semester 2025/26.
