About the Program
The Master of Science in Sports Science at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz is a consecutive research-oriented master's program with two different study focuses: Profile B "Health Promotion and Therapy through Sport" and Profile C "International Sports Management". The program is characterized by a broad foundation of skills for developing solutions to subject-specific problems. Students acquire a high level of methodological knowledge and the competence to learn and appropriately apply methods beyond those currently taught in sports science. The first two semesters are designed across profiles with the following focus areas: sports medical diagnostics, performance diagnostics of moving systems and interacting moving systems, social science evaluation and analysis of sports organizations. The third and fourth semesters are adapted to the chosen study focus. Profile B "Health Promotion and Therapy through Sport" provides specialized knowledge in the prevention and rehabilitation of lifestyle diseases, sports injuries, and selected neurological-psychological disorders. Students acquire in-depth indication-related methodological competencies in the conception, implementation, and evaluation of rehabilitation programs with a focus on internal medicine, orthopedics, neurology, and psychosomatic conditions.
