Master of Education (M.Ed.)

About the Program

The Master of Education in Sport program is designed for those who want to teach young people the joy of movement and believe in fair and inclusive physical education. The program focuses on the individual and social conditions, manifestations, effects, and functions of sports, movement, play, and physical activity. Students learn to develop targeted strategies to prepare these contents for school teaching. The curriculum includes intensive engagement with current issues in sports pedagogy and the challenges of sports didactics, particularly regarding teaching and learning situations in schools. In addition to deepening didactic knowledge, students expand their scientific perspectives from bachelor studies, analyzing fundamental academic discourses on sports and applying them to school sports and teaching. A special emphasis is placed on the pedagogical interpretation of movement, play, and sports as developmental, educational, and instructional measures. The program also addresses current social topics such as inclusion, digitalization, sustainable development, and democratic education. A central concern of the study is connecting theory and practice, teaching students how to translate sports science findings into concrete lesson planning for secondary education levels I and II.
