About the Program

Social Work supports people in shaping their lives and overcoming special challenges. It often focuses on the social disadvantage of individuals or groups. The program examines how emergencies arise and how they can be overcome or prevented from the outset. Social Work looks equally at personal and social conditions, causes and effects. Dealing with social diversity is also part of Social Work. Students learn to analyze individual and social problems and to implement solution strategies in diverse work areas. Scientific and methodical action competencies are acquired. The six-semester program includes modules from the disciplines of law, psychology, sociology, and educational science. It is divided into three study sections, with a practical semester in the fourth semester that includes a 100-day internship. In the third study section, students can set content priorities and develop their personal profile. The program offers specializations in theater pedagogy, help for children, youth and their families, school social work, and gerontology.
