About the Program

The Master's programme in Social Work at the University of Vechta offers excellent training in small groups in which students deepen their socio-pedagogical knowledge and work on individual specialised questions. The programme is characterised by its good compatibility of study and work. It is divided into three study areas: Social work science (disciplinary perspective), Empirical analyses (Transdisciplinary perspective), and Social work and deviance (Inter- and transdisciplinary perspectives). Building on the knowledge gained in the Bachelor's programme, the Master's programme aims to provide an education with a broad, detailed and critical understanding of social work at the cutting edge of science. The courses usually take place in blocks at fixed seminar times, designed to improve compatibility with professional activities and/or family responsibilities. Graduates can take on responsibility as managers and leaders, develop and evaluate concepts in social institutions, and lead teams in public and private educational, social, educational and counselling institutions. The programme also qualifies for doctoral studies.
