Master of Arts (M.A.)

About the Program

The Master's programme in Social Work focuses on demographically sensitive social work. The objective is to develop professionals who can address social inequalities between age groups and in regions with shrinking infrastructure and health/social care provision. The program emphasizes skills to develop concepts for working with elderly people and cross-generationally, implementing these concepts through effective organizational design, fostering interdisciplinary cooperation, and conducting practice-related research. The curriculum is structured over three semesters: the first semester covers basic knowledge on older people's life situations, aging processes, life courses, and intergenerational relationships, along with advanced research methods; the second semester focuses on legal, institutional, and economic fundamentals plus preventive and intervention strategies; the third semester involves a project study complemented by aging planning methods, reporting, and care management. Project study results can be carried forward into the Master's thesis.
