About the Program

This Bachelor's degree in Social Work prepares students for supporting people with difficult life circumstances and promoting their development. Students can specialize in certain age ranges or social groups, such as children, young people, senior citizens, addiction sufferers, refugees, or families from socially deprived areas. The program teaches how to identify, analyze, and solve social problems together with those affected. Students acquire methodological skills like conducting conversation, managing conflicts, planning and coordinating support services, as well as academic skills including analyzing specialist texts and applying research methods. The curriculum includes theories of social work and basics of psychology, sociology, education, and law. A key element is a seven-month practical period in a social institution. In the final two semesters, students deepen their knowledge in one of four subject areas: interculturality, media education, social medicine, or theology.
