About the Program

The degree programme prepares students for the complex demands placed on modern managers in the social sector. It covers management concepts and ethics, and builds a solid foundation in law and business administration, including company and labour law, financial accounting, cost management and specific forms of financing in the social economy. The program also focuses on organisation, planning and management of social institutions, employee management and personnel management, and addresses challenges and opportunities of digitalisation and artificial intelligence in social work. The curriculum includes modules on innovation management, sustainability and social research to develop skills for managing and developing social organisations in a visionary way. The program provides students with the background for managing and leading organizations with a focus on the social economy, which includes organizations in the public sector, private sector, welfare associations, small independent providers, and organizations in the intermediary sector. Students develop their personality and understand the relevance of their social science expertise for current social issues. The program promotes understanding of sustainability, society, and diversity, enabling graduates to make sustainable social contributions (in teams). The program is structured as a distance learning program (Fernstudiengang) with a combination of in-person and online components.
