About the Program

This degree programme focuses on the study of China, its language, history, literature, and culture. After intensive training in modern and classical Chinese language and the fundamentals of Chinese history, literature and linguistics, the programme provides the basis for a critical examination of traditional and modern China. Students can specialize in Chinese history (ancient, modern and contemporary) or Chinese literature (ancient, imperial, modern and contemporary). The program is unique as it can be combined with the Bachelor's programme in Musical Studies at the Folkwang University of Arts in Essen.
