Seminar on Misogyny in Visual Culture

Other

About the Program

This seminar is different: It resembles a thinking workshop in which we examine how misogyny manifests itself in and through images - not only through what they show, but especially through their production and usage methods in digital image culture, such as in selfies, memes, fake news or hate images. Together we discuss texts, analyze materials from art, design and visual culture, and develop ways to recognize and question misogynistic image narratives. Participants acquire image and media literacy, understand circulating images as tools of power, and explore how strategies from misogynistic image practice can be consciously rethought to make their own artistic and design work feminist-solidary.
