Master of Arts (M.A.)

About the Program

The two-year International Romance Studies master's degree programme reflects contemporary developments in the field of romance languages and literatures, taking a modern approach to the study of literature, media, language and culture. Courses are taught mainly in the corresponding target language (French or Spanish), and the program is distinguished by its international focus and the integration of studies abroad, as well as a new binational option for study in Madrid (as of 2019/2020). A special procedure allows students who already hold a Master's of Education or teaching credential to complete the program in one year. The programme combines Francophone and Hispanophone studies with literary, film, cultural, and linguistic studies, and it incorporates inquiry-based modules and a mandatory stay abroad.
