About the Program

The Romance Studies degree programme imparts linguistic, literary and cultural skills related to the field of Romance languages. It introduces you to the working methods and subjects of linguistics, literature and cultural studies, with a particular focus on the chosen focus, i.e. the French language and the Francophone linguistic and cultural area. In addition to the necessary specialised knowledge, you will learn how to deal with texts academically and how to speak and write about them professionally. The program develops your ability to carry out independent academic work. In addition to developing language skills in French, you will acquire basic knowledge of other Romance languages. A wide range of courses enables you to deepen your knowledge of French literature and language as well as French and Francophone culture (Music, film, etc.).
