Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.)

About the Program

From streaming to mobile working and new means of communication to novel ways of acquiring knowledge: media technology systems are indispensable for everything that is becoming increasingly important in society. Video conferencing reduces travel. Audiovisual systems for quality monitoring make products more durable and reduce resource consumption in Industry 4.0. Cameras and acoustic sensors are a basis for autonomous driving and sustainable mobility of the future. In the study of media engineering, you will learn to understand, develop and network precisely these and other digital media systems from the user's point of view. You will not only learn the necessary scientific and technical basics. You will also learn how state-of-the-art audio and video technology, web technologies, machine learning and artificial intelligence work. This is because the program combines electrical engineering, computer science and media sciences in a distinctive way: You'll learn how signals are processed to transmit information, how to program media-related software, develop computer games, or use virtual and augmented reality to combine virtual and physical reality into digital spaces. You can apply your knowledge directly in practical workshops, student projects and internships. As a graduate of media engineering, you are ideally prepared for numerous exciting career fields in business and research - from the broadcasting, telecommunications or streaming industry to the automotive and computer games industry to manufacturers of audio, video, medical or event technology.
