About the Program

The Religious Studies program reflects on what religion actually is. It examines the types and forms of religion, e.g., in early religious forms and in the 'world religions,' as well as their history and relationships. Interdisciplinary perspectives offer the opportunity to analyze and understand the relationship between religion and culture, religion and society, and religion and nature. The study also highlights new religious movements, the topic of religion and violence, as well as interreligious dialogue and its foundation, interreligious learning. The aim of the study is to impart basic methodological knowledge in the sub-disciplines of religious studies, to introduce students to the major religious traditions and themes, and to familiarize them with religious-philosophical thinking. The Bachelor's program consists of three phases of two semesters each: introductory phase, development phase, and in-depth phase.
