About the Program

This program prepares students to become teachers of Evangelical Religion at regional schools in Germany. The program emphasizes the exploration of contemporary cultural phenomena in art, music, pop culture, sports, natural sciences, politics, etc., regarding their connection points for religious interpretations. The curriculum follows a spiral approach covering Old Testament, New Testament, Church History, Systematic Theology, Religious History, Religion and Society, Practical Theology, Religious Education/Subject Didactics, and Ecumenism - Christianity and Culture. The program encourages students to engage with social reality and its different interpretative worlds, to develop their own approaches to theology and spirituality, and to consider the opportunities and challenges of open religious interest in a non-denominational context.
