Psychology of Rehabilitation

Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.)

About the Program

The design of the course of studies follows the recommendation of the German Psychological Society. On the basis of a fundamental scientific training in psychology, it equips students with a basic grounding in health, rehabilitation science, diagnostics and psychotherapy and the requisite knowledge from neighbouring disciplines in the social and educational sciences as well as basic knowledge related to the international system of preventive health care and rehabilitation. In particular, students build knowledge and expertise relevant to the professional, social, medical and psychological aspects of dysfunctions which in their interplay affect participation in everyday life (participation disorders). Basic diagnostic competence, abilities in psychosocial intervention and the performance of psychological tasks in welfare, education and health care are among the particular qualifications and tasks. At the same time, economic, political and administrative relationships are also studied. Through their active participation in the programme, students acquire theoretical knowledge, analytical skills and methodological competence. Alongside foundational subjects in psychology and methodological principles, the particular emphasis of the specialisation in the Psychology of Rehabilitation is reflected in a strong focus on applied relevance to the fields of 'rehabilitation' and 'clinical psychology'. Four 4-week-long internships are incorporated into the standard period of study. Upon application these can be combined into longer blocks and/or be completed abroad.
