About the Program

The Master of Science in Psychology is a consecutive, strongly research-oriented program. The standard period of study is four semesters. The program comprises eight modules with two complementary focus areas. One focus is neuroscientific cognitive research in the compulsory modules 'Advanced Research Methods and Statistics', 'Psychological Diagnostics' and the in-depth foundation 'Cognitive Neuroscience', as well as the elective course 'Developmental Cognitive Neuroscience'. Another focus includes the research of social and emotional processes in the modules of the applied electives 'Organizational Psychology: Social Dynamics of Organizational Behavior' and 'Educational Psychology: Socio-Emotional Development and Learning', as well as a module of the basic elective 'Origins of and Differences in Human Cognition and Personality'. Extensive methodological and statistical competencies are taught (compulsory modules). The in-depth examination of methods includes, in particular, laboratory-experimental data collection taking into account the range of modern measurement methods as well as the collection of data in the field, the statistical evaluation of large data sets with repeated measurements and modeling of the data. An internship is planned for the third semester, with the option of studying abroad.
